WHAT IS HOSPICE?

Hospice care is designed for those dealing with terminal illnesses, offering a patient-focused approach that aims to enhance quality of life in all aspects: physical, emotional, social, and spiritual. Since quality of life is subjective, we empower our patients to define what matters most to them, and we prioritize these aspects. At Visiting Angels Hospice, we serve not only the patient but also their loved ones. Recognizing that the concept of family can go beyond traditional ties of marriage and blood, we allow our patients to determine who their family is, ensuring a comprehensive support system.

Hospice care is available in any place a patient considers home, whether it's a residential house, an apartment, an assisted living facility, a board and care home, or a skilled nursing facility.

Admission

Admission to hospice is voluntary and begins with a physician's order. You may continue as the primary care physician, unless you indicate otherwise. Consultations are available from our certified hospice Medical Director.

Please, consider referring when your patient has had a decline in condition or hospitalization interventions are no longer beneficial. Hospice diagnoses may include but are not limited to:

  • Alzheimer's
  • ALS
  • Cancer
  • Cardiac Disease
  • Dementia
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Liver Disease
  • Pulmonary Disease
  • Renal Disease
  • Stroke
